Subject: May 22 update

Hello!

Just wanted to drop a little hello, and say that I am still doing well in my family, school, and am almost ready to come home. I fly home on the 26th of July. My mom and my grandmother are coming at the beginning of July to visit.

This past weekend, I was at the my 1800 District Conference. They do it once a year. It is tradition that the exchange students come and do a little something to say thankyou. We sang a song with the words all changed around...saying how much we have enjoyed ourselves this year....and expressing our appreciation. Diego from Brazil did a speech...sort of giving the Rotarians an idea of what we have got out of the year.A Chinese guy played his Asian Violin, and the Brazilian girls played tambourine and did a dance.

Our efforts we really appreciated--they found our singing really great, and the lyrics funny. Even though we were very off tune...and sounded pretty bad, we sung enthousiastically, and that's the message that got across. Of course afer we ate...like Rotarians do when they are together, and good food...like always.

In two weeks we have our last meeting. We are very scared to say goodbye to eachother, becuase we know that it may be the last time that we see eachother. We all have dreams to visit all our friends around the world, but know, that in reality, we will only see a couple...if any again. It will hard to say goodbye after a whole year. We have been eachother's moral support through the whole craziness in another country. We already had to say goodbye to a couple people already. I knew it would be like this, but it's hard when it actually get's right down to it.

I have mixed feelings about returning to Canada. I have gotten pretty close to my host families, and it will be hard to leave, not knowing when I will be back.

I am savouring my last months in Germany...but also looking foward to get back to Canada...and the people and things I know and love. It will be good.

Viele Gruesse aus Deutschland!

Danielle
